Off to Nepal

To be a teacher is a great job and to be a teacher in Sweden is amazing. But sometimes I find myself wondering if there's something else to life and if there is more that I could do in order to make the world a better place. Everyone knows that Sweden is a secure and a very comfortable country to live in. We have everything we need and we go about our everyday lives living as if everyone else in the world has the same luxury as we do.

But is it really material things that matter? Isn't there anything else that is more important? Let's find out! I'll soon be on a plane to one of the world's poorest countries, Nepal. In the middle of the country is a place called Chitwan where I will spend the next four months. I will live with a local family of six and work in the local school as a teacher for the local kids. I'm working for the organization RCDP, and I'm working for free.

I have an employment at Raoul Wallenbergskolan in Uppsala and I love my students, most of the time anyways... I have the best colleagues in the world, my family is amazing and I have fantastic friends but sometimes you need to question what you have and challenge yourself. This is why I'm going away; I need to challenge myself, my own ideas and my own prejudice against other cultures and people.

In this blog I will give my personal view of what living and teaching in Nepal is like. I hope you'll enjoy it and please keep in touch; I'll be more than happy to answer any questions you have!
